One Week Only….T-Shirt Sale

IMG_0566

Contests, for me, are bitter-sweet.  The sweet part is that I get to make virtual friends with new followers.  They tweet nice things about me, and they leave all these great facebook posts.  My love tank is always full during one of my contests.  The bitter part is that I wish everyone who participates wins.  Oh well….I guess Momma was right when she said that “life’s not fair”.

With all of that said…I am honestly in love with the shirt Screen-It designed for me.  It’s the comfiest shirt I own.  I wear my shirt so often that I’m sure my friends either think that I 1) Love myself so much that I wear my own swagger……(did I seriously just say “swagger”!)  or 2) that I don’t take baths.  To ease your minds…neither of those are the case, it’s just that I LOVE comfy clothes that look good on me.

So…for this week only, I am selling my shirts at the same price I purchased them.  I have a limited quantity…so first come, first serve.

(By the way, the shirts are unisex.  The cotton is pretty thin, so it contours to your figures (or muscles) well.)

If you want to take advantage of this deal, click the button below.  I’m on vacation this week, but I will start shipping next week.  Thanks again to those who participated.  You are AWESOME!

Why I Love What I Do…

It has been WAY too long since I posted a personal tip for photographers.  Life has been a little crazy lately, but I hope to post tips more frequently.  So, keep the questions coming :)

Tips logo

Today, I was sorting through some of the images that took at Amanda and Hunter Batts’ wedding.  I had completely forgotten that I recorded their emotional wedding vows that day.  I must have been too caught up in the day to realize the beauty of the moment I had just captured.  So, today, as I watched Hunter tearfully pledge his love to his beautiful bride, I was hit with the profound revelation that what I do is far more powerful than just taking pictures.

It’s no secret that I love my job.  I still can’t believe that I am able to do this for a living.  I’ve always known that I had found my home in photography, but sometimes….through the thousands of images I take a week, the vision gets blurred and I sometimes wonder if I’m going down the right path….if I’m doing it all right.  I often wonder if I’m making the right business decisions?  Am I making a difference?  Is what I do truly valuable?  Well, today my vision was renewed.  I realized that I have the extreme honor to capture, not just a picture, but a memory that will be treasured for a lifetime.   Each image I take is a piece of time that will never happen again.  Each picture is an emotion that is unique, and could be lost if I wasn’t there to capture it.

So, photographers….don’t forget that what you do is valuable.  Fall back in love with the gift of capturing memories.  Stop being critical of your work.  Stop comparing yourself to other photographers.  This isn’t a competition or a race to fame.  This is a rare gift that should be taken seriously.  Remember that you are capturing an artifact that would otherwise be lost if it wasn’t for you.  Sure….strive to be the best you can be, but in your efforts to achieve, don’t lose the reason why you started this hobby/career in the first place.  Don’t forget the reason why you fell in love with photography.  Be passionate about capturing your clients love….this moment of their life that they will never have again.  Stop living on rock of cynicism and defeat, and take pride in the fact that your client, your friends, or even your family chose YOU to be their photographer.  What an honor!

(can I get an “Amen”!)

Here are the vows that touched my heart today….

Katie and Jason- Philly Sneak Peek

We arrived in Philadelphia this morning!!  Jason and Katie took us downtown to see some of the sites.  Our first stop was Love Park.  Then we walked around the city for a bit.  We grabbed a few cute shots on the way….

I am thrilled to be celebrating/photographing Jason and Katie’s Philadelphia wedding.  It is such an honor to do what I do.  I am one blessed soul.

Philadelphia- New York City…Here We Come!!!!

Hey, my lovely friends!
Just wanted you to know that Ally D and I will be heading up to Philly to photograph Katie and Jason’s wedding this Saturday.  I shot my first Philadelphia wedding last year, and I have been dying to go back!  I’m so excited that Trent Cobb and Feuza Reis will be shooting with me!  I met both of them in New York City last year, and I can’t wait to catch up on all the awesome things that have transpired in their lives this past year.  I’m 100% certain that we are going to have a killer time!!
After our Philadelphia wedding, we are going to head up  to New York City for a couple of days to cut loose and have a little fun!  For the most part, we will be away from our email, but email us if you need us and we will get back with you as soon as we can.

We are looking for some cool things to do in NYC….leave a comment below with any suggestions.  That would rock my world!

Meredith Andrews Maternity Photos

IMG_0139-1

Meredith Andrews and I go way back…….way…..way back!  My mom and her mom used to room together in college.  We grew up in the same church, and were radically changed by God’s love when we were in middle school.  Lot’s of things have changed since middle school, but one thing remains the same…..our friendship.  It doesn’t matter how many miles apart we are, or how long it’s been since we’ve seen each other, Meredith will always be one of my best friends.  I’m so excited for Meredith and Jacob’s new addition.  All I know is, that baby is going to come out with amazing hair and incredible musical talent.  Make sure you check out Meredith’s new cd, “As Long as it Takes”.  It’s awesome!
