The Coffee Shack- Greenville, NC

If you know me, you know I LOVE coffee.  To me, it’s not just a beverage that wakes me up…..it’s an art.  My friend, Beaty Bass, (who owns Tar River Coffee) turned me onto roasting my own beans.  Since then, I have come to truly appreciate a good cup of “joe”.

There are so many things I love about a good coffee shop…..the music, the smell, the warm colors, and the soft lighting, and of course…the coffee.  There are times where I just want to get out of the house and edit photos in a comfy, peaceful environment.  I even enjoy getting to know my clients in a warm cozy location, like a coffee house.  Lately, my coffee shop of choice has been Starbucks on 10th Street.  The staff there is friendly, and it is also the roomiest Starbucks in town.  Unfortunately, there are several things I don’t like about Starbucks….on a scale of 1-10, I would give their coffee a 4, their music selection has been horrible lately, and it is usually overly crowded.  Do I appreciate Starbucks?  Certainly!  Would it be my ideal coffee shop?  No way!  When I think of great coffee shops, I think of coffee infused air and smooth acoustic or jazz music…not the techno music that is frequently heard at the Starbucks on 10th Street.

Anyway, the other day I passed by a new coffee shop in town.  I decided to sneak in and take a peek.  To my excitement this coffee shop was perfect!  The decor was incredibly warm and inviting, the staff was super friendly, the music was calm and relaxing, there was even a conference room for meetings…..the best part was that it is locally owned and their coffee is fresh roasted in Wilmington! (FRESH ROASTED!)
So, if you are a lover of great coffee or an awesome environment to read, study, edit, or socialize….you just HAVE to check out The Coffee Shack on 168 Beacon Drive, Winterville, NC (down the road from Fred’s Food Club)!  Let’s rally behind this new business and help spread the word about the new coffee kid on the block.  We have to keep these guys on the map so that we all can enjoy fresh roasted coffee!  Also, become a fan of them on facebook (click here)

Here’s a few pics I took today….

Oooooooo! Make-Up!

Hey Brides!

As some of you know, I have the most amazing assistant on this planet. Allison Dameron is completely passionate about making my (and your) life easier. As we have been working together over the past year, she noticed that many of my clients didn’t apply their make-up in a way that flattered their skin tone or facial structure. They either applied too little or too much make up, which ruined the pictures that they cherished the most. So, she decided to combine her passion for making women feel beautiful and photography to create an amazing make-up artistry business in Greenville, NC.

She has spent hours researching make-up application that enhances your features in front of the camera. She applies make-up in a way that looks flawless, without looking heavy or over done. She is extremely gifted at picking the perfect colors that enhance your natural skin tones, and believes that makeup should make you say “Wow, I am beautiful!” not “Wow, I have beautiful make up on!”.

I, 100%, believe that hiring a make-up artist for your wedding is an amazing investment. I have seen so many brides that have regretted their make-up choice on their wedding day. Most of the time, your make-up will dissipate after a couple of hours, leaving runny mascara, and blotchy foundation. I’m sure you want to look perfect from beginning to end. After all, you only get married once! So, why not spend only $35-$50 to have a professional make-up applied on your big day? It’s such a small investment when you look at the grand scheme of things.

You can check out Allison’s website here: www.allisondameron.com

Allison is also available for bridal portraits, engagement sessions, and senior sessions.  It’s definitely worth it!

Rhonda and Travis- Engagement

I say this a lot…I’m the LUCKIEST girl on this planet!  I love love love what I do!  I love everything about being a wedding photographer…my clients and especially capturing memories that will be treasured for a lifetime.  I love helping plan details about their wedding, as well as, photographing it.  I also adore engagement shoots, it’s the time that I really get to know my clients.  We joke, we laugh….we make awesome memories.

After Rhonda and Travis’ photo shoot, my face actually hurt from smiling so much.  How can you NOT smile at these two?  Rhonda’s laugh is contagious…Travis absolutely adores her.  They are perfect for one another.  I’m lucky to be their wedding photographer!

Robbie and Brenna- Engagement

I absolutely love Robbie and Brenna.  We taught together at Eastern Elementary School.  I was a 4th grade teacher, Robbie was 5th, and Brenna had the 2nd grade cuties.  Robbie and I shared a huge classroom that was split by a divider.  If you know me personally, you know I am pretty loud.  If you know Robbie, you know that he is ALSO very loud.  Our poor students could hear everything the other teacher was teaching.  Often times, after a stressful day of teaching, Robbie would come over to my classroom and we would toss the football back and forth venting about our frustrations.  Unfortunately, sometimes…when I would get too excited…I would through what we call a “duck”.  I cannot even count how many windows and fans I almost busted with our football.  Ahhh….good memories :)
