I Have a New IPhone 4!!!

Do you even know how long I have been waiting for an iPhone?  Our contract was up for renewal all the way back in November!  We heard rumors that a new iPhone would surface in March…

March came and went….no iPhone 4.  Every bit of my rebellious nature was clawing for a new iPhone.  After all, all my photog buddies had awesome iPhones, and I was practically embarrassed by my little Motorola Q.  I couldn’t access Twitter or Facebook…I couldn’t upload pictures….I felt like I was in the dark ages. It was rough.

Well, I’m happy to announce that we have our new iPhones!!!  The best part is that they were FREE.  My amazing husband won a sales contest which gave him a $500 gift card.  It’s like it was meant to be or something…… :-)

If you are a friend of mine on facebook or a Twitter follower…I would like to go ahead and apologize for all of the pictures I have taken!  I literally take pictures ALL   THE    TIME!  Shane’s coworker actually busted a joke on me….he said, “tell your woman to stop taking pictures of her cats and edit some photos”.  If you know me, you know I love jokes….even at my own expense.  Good ol’ Jeff Gaddis has one comin’ ;)

So, here’s some of the fun things that I have happened in my life through the eyes of my iPhone 4 over the past two weeks :)

Above:  I shot a wedding in the Outerbanks, I had great customer service at Jersey Mike’s, Allison and I finished decorating my office, The skies were beautiful, I have become even MORE addicted to coffee, and Jazzy still love to sleep :)

Above: We had Worshipfest last weekend.  Worship is an extension of my heart.  I loved every bit of last week…meetings, long practicing, and lots of prayer time at the Boiler Room.  The more I dive into 24/7 prayer…the more I realize that this is yet another thing I am created to do!

Meet My Crazy Family!

It’s no secret…..my family knows how to have a good time!  We just got back from our family vacation yesterday, and I couldn’t think of a better way to relive our memories than to make a video.  Just think about how much we are going to treasure these fun family videos when we are older!

Without further ado….meet my crazy family….

Nashville, TN Fun! Greenville, NC Wedding Photographer

Last weekend, I had the pleasure to spend the weekend with my good friends, Zach and Jody Gray.  I originally went to support them as they spoke at the Freedom Tour by Showit in Nashville. Little did I know that I was going to meet amazing new friends that I KNOW I will stay in touch with for a lifetime.

Below: Picture of Zach and Jody blowing our MINDS!  They are phenomenal teachers!  They share openly.

Below:  On the right is Jim Davis-Hicks.  He’s the creator of Thirst Relief International and Action Runner.  (I actually won Action Runner that night at the Freedom Tour!!!)  Anyway, I’m excited about all that’s happening with Thirst Relief.  Can you imagine giving a child the gift of clean water for only $5?  Could you imagine YOUR child drinking contaminated water…..it’s hard to think about, huh?  With that said, I’m going to jump on board and support what Jim’s doing.  Head over to Thirst Relief’s website to see what you can do.  Even if you can only give $5 a month….think about that one life you are saving.  That $5 is a big deal in their world.

c2

Below: David Jay….an incredible guy!  I can’t fathom all that he has accomplished at such a young age.  I love that He loves Jesus, and outwardly expresses his commitment to the Lord.

Below: Sarah Barlow and Jim Davis-Hicks.  Sarah’s presentation helped remind me of the basics that I had been neglecting.  She is an awesome person….she radiates joy!  I like people like that.

c4

Below: David Jay and Molly Jenson.  Not only is Molly an awesome singer/song writer, but she’s super witty.  She had me literally laughing out loud through out her whole set.  Head over to itunes and listen to some of her music.  You won’t regret it.

On Saturday, Zach and Jody took me to a local joint called “Maniacs”.  Let me just tell you………I’m serious when I say this………their chicken tenders were the best chicken tenders I’ve ever had in my LIFE!!!  My stomach is growling just thinking about all that deliciousness.

c11

After Maniacs, we were craving some good espresso and conversation.  So, Zach and Jody took me to this cute place in downtown Franklin called “Merridee’s”.  I ordered my favorite….an Americano.  It was SO good!  I love the hanging baskets on the ceiling.

On Saturday night, we had a cook-out.  This was one of my favorites memories.  I was able to hang out with Josh and Amber Ulmer again (and their cute baby, Josie).  I also met Mark and Noelle McCoy.  (Did you know that Mark is one of the “McCoys”….as in the “Hatfield- McCoys”?  I loved catching up on his family history).  I miss these guys SOOO much.  They almost give me enough reason to move to Tennessee……almost.

Below: My favorite thing that Zach says is “Boom!”.  When he talks about taking pictures, he always holds a fake camera (aka- “air camera”) and when he clicks the fake shutter button, he says “Boom!”.  Needless to say, I say “Boom!” all the time now.  Sadly, I’m not as cool as Zach, and I usually get awkward stares.

Below: We labeled our cups…..can you guess who is who?  You have to label us correctly- Noelle, Mark, Ginny, Jody, and Zach.

Unfortunately, I didn’t take any pictures of Jody, Heather (of 2Duce2 Video) , and I going to the movies to see Eclipse.  I guess I was to giddy to take my camera.  I also didn’t document our fun night of Papa Johns and fireworks with Heather and Eugene.  Oh well, just imagine awesome pictures of that as well.

As always, thanks for reading my blog.  I’d love to hear from you.  Feel free to leave a comment below.

Details:

Photo Shoot Type?

Free Engagement/Couple photo shoot

How do I participate?

1.  Become a fan of “Ginny Corbett Photography” on facebook

2.  Follow “ginnycorbett” on twitter

3.  Tag me in a facebook and/or twitter update saying something awesome about “Ginny Corbett Photography”

4.  Your name will be entered into a drawing every time you tag me in a post. Maximum: once per day….we don’t want to annoy all your friends ;)

When does the contest start?

The contest starts today (July 6th) through Sunday (July 11th).

When will the winner be announced?

I will announce the winner on my blog, Monday!!

Important:  How Do I tag you?

The only way that I can keep up with the contestants is if I am tagged correctly.  (In the past, people have just typed in my name, but that doesn’t show up on my page.)  So, here’s how to tag peeps on facebook.  First, you have to already be a fan.  To do that, simple find “Ginny Corbett Photography” on fb and click the “like” button at the top.  Then, type something snazzy in your status update bar with my name in it.  To tag me, put the “@” (you will see a drop down box of all your friends).  If you go ahead and type @Ginny… I should pop up, and simply click on my name…that will link your status update to my page.  Twitter is much easier.  All you have to do is type out @ginnycorbett and it will automatically tag me.

Do I HAVE to be engaged?

No, I’m looking for an engagement style shoot, but you can be married, dating, or engaged.  (It’s cool if I’ve already done your engagement shoot as well).

Is this contest only for local peeps?

Nope!  This is for ANY couple that wants to be photographed by me for FREE!

The Coffee Shack- Greenville, NC

If you know me, you know I LOVE coffee.  To me, it’s not just a beverage that wakes me up…..it’s an art.  My friend, Beaty Bass, (who owns Tar River Coffee) turned me onto roasting my own beans.  Since then, I have come to truly appreciate a good cup of “joe”.

There are so many things I love about a good coffee shop…..the music, the smell, the warm colors, and the soft lighting, and of course…the coffee.  There are times where I just want to get out of the house and edit photos in a comfy, peaceful environment.  I even enjoy getting to know my clients in a warm cozy location, like a coffee house.  Lately, my coffee shop of choice has been Starbucks on 10th Street.  The staff there is friendly, and it is also the roomiest Starbucks in town.  Unfortunately, there are several things I don’t like about Starbucks….on a scale of 1-10, I would give their coffee a 4, their music selection has been horrible lately, and it is usually overly crowded.  Do I appreciate Starbucks?  Certainly!  Would it be my ideal coffee shop?  No way!  When I think of great coffee shops, I think of coffee infused air and smooth acoustic or jazz music…not the techno music that is frequently heard at the Starbucks on 10th Street.

Anyway, the other day I passed by a new coffee shop in town.  I decided to sneak in and take a peek.  To my excitement this coffee shop was perfect!  The decor was incredibly warm and inviting, the staff was super friendly, the music was calm and relaxing, there was even a conference room for meetings…..the best part was that it is locally owned and their coffee is fresh roasted in Wilmington! (FRESH ROASTED!)
So, if you are a lover of great coffee or an awesome environment to read, study, edit, or socialize….you just HAVE to check out The Coffee Shack on 168 Beacon Drive, Winterville, NC (down the road from Fred’s Food Club)!  Let’s rally behind this new business and help spread the word about the new coffee kid on the block.  We have to keep these guys on the map so that we all can enjoy fresh roasted coffee!  Also, become a fan of them on facebook (click here)

Here’s a few pics I took today….

I Love Live Music!

There’s something about sitting in a dimly lit room and listening to live music. It’s captivating. This past Tuesday night, we had several musicians come out to the Boiler Room to play live music.  It was incredible!

IMG_0030I don’t know who was more fascinated in who.  Shiloh is such a beautiful baby.

Colorado Bound!

IMG_0134sm

I’m so excited about photographing Liz and Dominic’s wedding here in Lyons, Colorado this weekend.  I’m so blessed to be here!

I will be back in the office on Monday.  I will return emails and calls then :)

I can’t wait to show you the pictures.  The picture above was taken at 9:30 tonight.  I couldn’t believe how vivid the sky was hours after sunset.

Busted!!!

I’ve mentioned in the past how much Chunk, one of our kitties, loves coffee.  She is seriously addicted!  Beware, she will sneak a taste of your coffee if you leave it unattended.  Today was the first time I was able catch her in the act!  She was SO busted!
